Hardware and Software
A computer requires both hardware and software to make it work. Hardware refers to the physical parts that makes up a computer system and include keyboards, Printer, memory units, CPU, monitors and disk drives. Software, on the other hand, describes the instructions or the program that is given to the computer. Therefore, hardware is the physical parts of computer such as main machine, monitor, keyboard, printer, mouse, hard disk, floppy disk etc and all peripherals. computer hardware pats can be divided into two separate groups.
Hardware is associated with the storage and use of software such as displaying different characters on the screen, storing data information, perform processing task, print the processed data and results, etc. It is the group of parts that make up the computer system and that can be seen and touched. Software is the set of instructions (Programs) that tell the computer what to do.
Software can’t be seen or touched. Software's are mainly two Categories.

1       System Software: System software consists of programs, which run a computer system itself, like the Software that is used by the machine when it is switched on.
2       Application Software: It is (also called the program) Application software is a specific program software that is install after the OS installation.

* Adobe Photoshop
* Micro Media freehand etc.


System Software can be of two types.

1.Operating System
2.Utilities
OS (Operating System) is a must for every computer from the largest mainframe to the smallest personal computer. The operating system is an integrated set of specialized programs that co-ordinate the various functions of the computer. The OS communicates your requests to the computer in its own language and gives you the results. In other words it acts as an interface between you and the computer hardware.
